Watch hours or Shorts views: which path is faster?

You only need one of the two. Long videos build watch hours steadily; Shorts can reach the views target quickly if a few of them take off, but the Shorts target is high. Many channels in the Philippines combine both: Shorts to grow subscribers, long videos for watch hours.

What does not count

Watch hours from Shorts in the Shorts feed, private, unlisted or deleted videos, and paid promotion campaigns don't count toward the 12-month watch hours. Live streams count only when they are kept as public replays.

Questions

How many subscribers do I need to get paid on YouTube in the Philippines?

500 to join the Partner Program for fan funding, and 1,000 to earn from ads. Both levels are available in the Philippines.

Is it 4,000 hours or 10 million Shorts views?

Either one, together with 1,000 subscribers. For the 500-subscriber level it is 3,000 hours or 3 million Shorts views, plus 3 public uploads in the last 90 days.

Does this checker look at my channel?
